Luxo Jr. Papercraft, Possibly my favorite model so far...

Awesome. Group: Members Posts: 3587 Member No.: 2033 Joined: 23-April 06 Status: (0d)	As some of you know, I'm a bit of a Pixar fanatic. And as I'm sure all of you know, Luxo Jr., the hopping lamp, is Pixar's mascot. With those two facts known, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out why I did this model! He's about 9 1/2 inches tall, so he's not quite life sized, but he's not too far off. As he is made out of shiny metallic paper, he was a bit hard to photograph, so I did some with a flash and some without. Sorry about the blurriness on the flash-less ones: And of course, Luxo Jr. with his favorite ball: Overall, I think this may be my favorite papercraft so far, but that's mainly because it's a character I've wanted to do for quite a while. Now if only I could figure out a way to make a paper light bulb work... -------------------- Feel like drawing good 'ol Toodles the Horse? Well, you might want a ref! Sadly, it's not. It's kind of a departure from my usual style because, while I normally make what are essentially paper action figures with moving parts and such, Luxo Jr. was made as more of a paper replica so nothing moves on this model.

Looks pretty darn cool. By the way, I'm pretty sure we had one of those lamps when I was younger, but I think it broke.

Anyways: papercraft with moving parts? That's.. Just Crazy Awesome. I would like to see more of your work.

I started working on it about a week ago. I'd say about 6 or 7 hours of work total, which actually isn't that long when compared to a lot of my other more complex models. @fujiko: I've posted a large number of my previous models in older topics. I did this one from scratch, as always. Actually, only the dome part for the top of the lamp was hard to design. The rest is fairly box-like in shape.
