I didn't imply that FF3DS encouraged exploring. In fact, it deters players from exploring which is why I think it has horrible level design. I'm just saying that it could have warned me to not explore around, since every other game that I've played encourages me to do otherwise.

But regardless, getting wiped out is part of the risk of exploring. You can't tell me that every other game you've ever played hasn't let you walk into an area that had enemies you couldn't exactly handle, can you (any FF with a boat comes to mind)?

Anyway, yeah, FFIII has terrible level design. It's a pretty straight forward grindfest. Must be why I got to the end but didn't have the motivation to finish the game.

ffv and ffvi are my favorites ♥

ffvii isnt a bad one to start with if you want to get into the series, it seems like this one was a lot of people's first

ffiii is pretty uhh- bland I guess is the word I'm looking for. I love the game, but it's completely understandable (and well deserved) why a lot of people don't like it

FFIIIDS is pretty good. I level my team up as much as possible to prevent what happened the first time I played it.

I don't mind the grinding. It's actually kind of fun to gain experience and level up. I'm extremely patient, I guess...

Yeah. I had the motivation to get the Onion Knight (because Onion Knights are awesome) but nothing beyond that, really.

I've never played any FF game apart from FFIIIDS.

Yeah.. I've played games which allowed me to enter an area with overpowered enemies (EARTHBOUND). I didn't really enjoy those games, though. However, every other game that I've ever played and really enjoyed had never let me walk into an area that had enemies I couldn't handle. The guy in Pokemon RBY, who prevents the player from entering the Unknown Dungeon until he/she beats the elite 4 is an example...

Uhh, that's not encouraging exploration if they don't let you go into areas you're not supposed to go into yet.

Ummm, if they don't prevent you from entering places that are "too hard", that's encouraging exploration! Since you CAN go in there, you just have to realize that you MIGHT DIE.

Also, you were level 2.

I made the same mistake, but you would have survived if you weren't level 2. You should be like level 3 at least before you even ENTER the second town.

Well, I wouldn't use that as the example, since they used a pretty good storyline reason for you not being able to go in there (champions only). It wasn't just because the monsters were too strong. It was a privilege to get to capture one of the strongest pokemon in the game. Your trophy, per se.

Me: "Alright! I'm in Route 201 and I leveled my squirtle up to level 12! The pokemon here don't give enough EXP anymore, so let's move on!"

*moves to route 202*

Me: "Okay! I defeated a few level 4 spearows and my squirtle is almost level 13! Coo-"

*ENGAGE POKEMON BATTLE*

Me: "What the hell? A LEVEL 30 ELECTABUZZ?! OH GOD IT USED THUNDERBOLT IM SCREWED"

*Squirtle faints, character whites out*

Me: "What kind of **** is this"

*talks to crashman about this*

Crashman: "WELL IF YOU ENTERED THE POKEMART FIRST AND GOT THE ELECTABUZZ SPRAY THEN YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN RID OF IT! YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IN ROUTE 202 OK"

Me: "But the game didn't even tell me about the el-"

Crashman: "OK??"

Uhh, you were level two and wandered pretty far away from the starting point. It should have been obvious that you might die. Most RPGs increase in difficulty REALLY FAST if you're not careful.

Pokemon is for kids.

That's why it's easy.

A lot of the challenge in games is trial and error, believe it or not.

In FF, as long as you save often, you'll be fine.
