So I played Princess Cliché.

Feels really Mario-y overall.

Just tell me: How many hits does Bowser take? I kick those blocks at him and he just doesn't die.

Around 15 or so.

He takes a lot of endurance.

Yey I finished Princess Cliché.

I have to say, that one was probably the best out of the three.
In Invasion, apparently there's only mushrooms as powerups, which leaves me ending up with not checking the ?blocks eventually since I can no longer expect anything worthwhile in them.
Haven't played the middle one that much yet, but so far it appears to be more of the same again.

In general, this game is basically a clone of SMB3 with a couple of differences in physics (I like how the items bounce when they fall from high enough and other such details you added), but it doesn't offer anything new (at least not if you're playing single player mode, like me).

For what it is though, I can savely say it's the best of its kind I ever played, and the Princess Cliché story was one of those games that I repeatedly came back to to finish it. Good job, overall.

There's a glitch in the clown car parking level of Invasion mode, one of the purple moving platforms doesn't move, it just vibrates and you need it need to continue though the level unless you have a raccoon suit. Otherwise it's a good game and pretty much what Guinea said.

No, there's more. I've gotten a handful of fire flowers in Invasion so far with my brother, some ? Blocks are just 'shrooms, yes, but not all of them. :P

EDIT: Unless you play Co-Op and one of the two players are small, then yes, you get just mushrooms. It caters to what both players are, not just the one that hits it.

I only played single player mode, and I expected at least one flower to pop up somewhere, but that didn't happen, even with a mushroom in my extra item box.

Thing is I didn't see a single fire flower throughout the first three or four levels, while there were plenty of mushrooms instead.
So I couldn't be bothered to hope that I'd eventually find a fire flower and just kept on ignoring all blocks, as neither the coins, nor the mushrooms (if you're already Super) serve a purpose in the game.

Ah, that explains it. The Invasion mode kinda uses sections to introduce you to each item, the first area are kinda just mushrooms, the second has Fire Flowers, the third has bullet bill cannons and etc, from what I've seen so far.

So it starts out slow, but it builds pace as you continue.

QUOTE (OniLink10 @ Aug 21 2009, 11:21 PM)
You haven't seen MFGGers go all out against Visual Basic? I have, several times.

Let me put it this way:
Visual Basic is one of the few programming languages remaining that was not in any way inspired by C/C++. Just about every other language in use is based at least slightly on C/C++, making it easier to switch languages. The use of almost any language that was not inspired by C/C++, including Visual Basic, is considered a "Programming Sin" by many MFGGers. I remember when I first tried to learn Visual Basic. I posted about it here on MFGG and got a lot of people yelling at me to stop.

Actually Oni you're pretty much the only one who makes a big deal out of it. A few mfggers will bring up "it teaches bad programming habits" and then leave, but you come in and try to pull everyone away from whatever they are using and make them switch to C++.

Anyways, this looks awesome, I'll have to try it and post my thoughts.

I'm not trying to get him to switch to C++, I'm just warning him that people have been flamed before on MFGG for using Visual Basic.

You should get this on the main site. This is the finest Mario fangame I have ever played. The auto splitscreen is a stupendously awesome feature and works flawlessly and the game itself doesnt lag me like all these other GM games! (Except for raiders of the painting realms) The real time level editor is also another +, works amazing and helps me build awesome levels due to the fact that I dont have to recompile anything, just play it right on the spot and add and adjust stuff as necessary. Great work. 10/10

I would love to have it in the main site. I actually submitted an older version(without the music to make it fit the 15MB size limit) about 2 months ago, but it's still hanging out in the submission que.

Oh, that sucks to hear.

You can contact Techokami, who will hopefully be able to upload the full game to the main site.

It's really a nice game, nice job on it. smile.gif

Although I got stuck on one of the maze levels. Specifically the first ghost house in the forest area titled "DO NOT ENTER". I think i spent a couple of minutes on it before giving up on it. @_@

All 3 pipes lead me back to the start. I tried every single one of them, just takes me back. X_X

I only have one thing to ask, how do you link the level maps with the overworld map?
I can link pipes and doors together but not the stages/levels together.

Well the music is nice and all, but some of the themes I found a bit repetitive in terms of fading out and restarting.

Maybe for some of these, instead of the music fading out at the end, have the music have the effect of looping back to the beginning? I noticed it more with the Mario RPG forest maze theme seemed shorter than the others. It kept fading out at the end when I played the levels that used this theme.
It's just that it really feels like an awkward moment when I'm playing a Mario game, and the music just fades out like that, instead of looping and keep playing.

Wow! Hi Redigit! Its me Iceman404! I didn't know you were at MFGG too?

(For those of you who don't know, I'm a beta tester, and helped with the L.O.Z. 16-bit revamp, and some other art for this fan-game)
