Being broken or over powered is not the only reason cards get banned, Mrs. A.

They also get banned to counter One Turn Kills

My favorite examples being Black Ptera, Butterfly Dagger Elma, and one involving Makyura, Call of the Haunted, and Chick the Yellow.


And Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't the only tcg to have banned cards (See Neo Genesis Sneasel and Slowking)
