| QUOTE (Mecha the Slag @ Aug 25 2009, 05:14 AM) | On a global perspective, I don't think it's a right for someone sterile to have a child. In nature, he or she would never have reproduced and that's just the way it would have been.
On a personal level, I do think people who can't have children but really want to, should be granted this wonderful gift. |
In nature, probably 90% of people today wouldn't have children not because they're sterile, but because their too unfit and/or too stupid to survive what every other animal has to live through on a daily basis.
I assumed you meant this on a completely "personal" basis as you put it, since from a "natural" perspective, well...
It seems like a moot point, really.

Parenting should be a privilege, not a right. When someone has a baby they can't handle, they put it into the orphanage. Also, with all the crap we give Mexicans about stealing our jobs, we should at least do our own part to keep the unemployment rate low. And the Amish have lots of kids that they try to support with the low resources that their society gives them. I just think that maybe if we had people take tests to get parenting licenses like getting a driver's license. This all roots back to religious morals; the Amish usually have children partially to please God. Also, many unwanted pregnancies can't get aborted because society goes against abortion, and I think at that point, you hurt more lives than you save, because the woman has either decided to destroy her dreams and raise the child poorly because she wasn't ready to parent the child, which affects the child negatively, or donate the child to an orphanage where it lives wondering who it's parents were.
