Is it because the existing template is already modified so heavily to work with the modifications?

EDIT: I can still work on it using subsilver2 and just replace my template files with the default when you guys unveil the site

It's a terrible pain to support multiple templates. That's why tropical splash kept breaking here.

Although subsilver is our base, there have been some significant changes to the CSS (they are more IPB-like).
