I could easily see plenty of users abusing the block system.

It's like the word filter, but with members.

Please, if someone chooses to ignore you, let them. If a ton of people do it, chances are you're doing something wrong.

If tons of people block you ... well, first of all, that's an extremely immature thing for a group of people to do; but if you are doing something wrong, and you actually do improve, chances are nobody will notice because everybody blocked you.

I don't like the sound of this. It seems like another system that the userbase of MGG would abuse.

Good sense, common sense. If you're really that confident about that going to happen on the new board, then you're saying this happens on this board too. Because:

They have to have some common sense.

If someone asks to be blocked by everyone, then that's plain retardness. They may just aswell leave, if they don't want their posts to be read.

I don't know I could see that being useful but also kind of insulting. I mean what happens if somebody asks you a question but you blocked them?

I think this will have to be a wait and see feature. If it is genuinely a problem then it will be turned off.

But since it's a default feature I don't see why we can't try it.

There is no method of telling what the content of the post was, so that kind of makes the system useless anyway.

How do you "abuse" a block system?

It doesn't affect people who aren't using it.

Big deal, someone can't read your posts. It'd be the same as if they just decided to skip past all of your posts. People are allowed to do that.

Honestly, instead I would prefer it if there were a system that involved flagging a post for moderator review, ie reporting, but it also collapses the post in question.

That would be coding hell, however.

I don't see why you're all freaking out about the "ignore" function. I'm pretty sure tons of forums have it, and it's not abuses like you say it will be.


Then again, this is MFGG, so!


The fact is, there are some people I just don't want to see the posts of because they try to provoke me or say things that make me annoyed and then I reply even though I would rather not. If I can't see their posts in the first place, I'll be less likely to start arguments with them.
