The biggest problem was the run defense, actually. If you want to run in circles, linebacker might work, unless you get to squash the ballcarrier.

Also, to be honest, I often prefer baseball, except when the Cubs are playing as ugly as they are now.

Just a few hours until our next game! This next opponent is weaker than our last, so we should have a chance at winning. A good running back would be a great thing to have, and we still need more linemen and defensive players. A pass-rusher and a "true shutdown corner" (as announcers always say) would also help us a lot.

The MFGG Football Team also needs a uniform! Anyone who wants to can post a uniform design and/or helmet logo here. The colors need not look anything like the lousy old avatar I've recently adopted.

And lastly, what kind of playing style should the MFGG team have, both on offense or defense?

JetSetRaïn: Shroomguy already took the flanker position, so you'll be the split end (the receiver who lines up closer to the line of scrimmage).

Wow! I know it's hard to believe, but the MFGG football team won their first game last night, defeating Boston in a close 17-14 contest. Marigi engineered a great comeback drive that culminated in a big touchdown pass to Dark Yoshi with just over a minute left on the game clock. The MFGG defense held tight to seal the win. An unidentified player, probably Shroomguy (who had MFGG's first-ever 100-yard receiving performance), showered Gatorade all over the coaching staff. So if any administrators find their keyboard is sticky, there's no doubt how that happened.

MFGG's record is now 1-1. While the team's first win is certainly a step in the right direction, we could still use more players, especially a running back. And since this was a home game against one of the weaker opponents on the schedule, we'll need a deeper pool of talent to help us beat the tougher opponents.

I think MFGG should go with a West Coast Offense (more short passes than runs) based around a scrambling quarterback, maybe a little like the Eagles at their peak. We shouldn't abandon the long bomb, though.

On defense, how about a 3-4 scheme heavy on the blitzing, like the Steelers?


Anyway, better get ready for Thursday's game! Ditch the hard drink and the tobacco, and please stay away from illicit drugs and long hours at the nightclub and driving back home while drunk. And steroids.
