I have a pretty decent PC. But photoshop CS3 actually lags sometimes if I have other things open. And by lags, I mean I'll stroke with my tablet, and no line will appear, and then it'll appear like 2 seconds later (sometimes turned into a straight line). It's very disorienting.

But I still find Photoshop's layout and interface to be satisfactory.

Because Technology is getting more advance and they want to be the best. I'm sure they can pump out more versions of photoshop, but it'd be very crappy.

Even CS4 has it's flaws.

most people who need 100% of the features are professionals that can justify paying for it (and putting up with the treachery, bloat etc.) if they so choose.

afaik "gimpshop" does the MDI the way photoshop users expect it to. I don't use it personally but it's there.
