This is my "Hotel Mario-like engine" http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WPKQEKMRI think i will make a fan-sequel, with new crappy cutscenes! All the sprites of the game are made by me. You must close all the doors to win. WASD = move/jump CTRL = open doors ENEMIES : Goombas : Well,this enemies are the simple goombas that we all know. Koopas:You can't use their shells like in the other mario games, bu they are more dagerous : they can open the closed doors! What do you think? The graphics are ok, but the game itself leaves much to be desired.
Controls could use a little editting in that they're a bit clustered. You have like 50 different buttons to use on a keybaord, so put movement on one end(Up down left right), and the action buttons on the other end.(Shift,Ctrl,Z,X,C).
In game, the enemies move far too slow, and when you jump on them, you don't do a little bounce. Maybe it's because it's the first level, but at least give the enemies a speed boost, since through my playthrough, I didn't even noticed that the koopa could open doors.

Considering this is fangame discussion, I probably shouldn't really bash about graphics, but I can't let the "this is not pillowshading" statement slide. >.> Quick comparison  Just some noticeable pillowshading spots: - Nose. The HM Mario has the lightest skin shade on the top, and even a little shine. You replaced the nose's shading by making the lightest shade surrounded by the darker shades. You did the same thing for the gloves, and sleeves. The pants is a bit difficult. Part of the lightest blue isn't caved in by the darker shades, however, the light source isn't truly determinable, considering the light blue goes as far down as the near bottom of the overalls. Basically, you took one shading technique of the Hotel Mario sprite (present in the bottom of the hand, where a tiny dark grey dot has two intersecting light gray lines), but applied it to the entire sprite on just about every single edge, which results in pillowshading that I'm seeing.
