I'm not sure what I can do about that since that's basically what it's supposed to look like.

ok so I looked up a picture of Culex



and let's be honest, you haven't sprited the 'dark lightning' anything like that. With the above picture, you can kinda tell what it's meant to be. With yours, it looks like - well, I don't know what it looks like to be honest. Try making the pointy bits pointier, and make the top part of the lightning thicker than the bottom part instead of keeping most of it the same width.

The figure/outline are broken at places, but the shading makes up for it!

the anatomy is all wrong too- try looking at starmang's ref- it shows how he's supposed to look! try thickening the upper body and working on your lightning a bit.

it'd also help if the wings weren't so jagged :s everything looks out of proportion, it'd probably be best to start over at this point

I'd honestly agree with Dex. When I first looked at the custom version, I just knew something looked odd about it.

The line art and proportions are entirely off, and the wings could look more like they have feathers (Yes, Culex is a genus of mosquito, but that doesn't mean it should get mosquito wings. >.>). Additionally, for the hair, most people seem to draw it as an overflowing mop of hair that sticks out from the head, which is pretty much what that dark cloud behind his head is for, I suppose.

The shading looks nice, but the sprite itself looks kinda like someone trying to create a familiar character on their first attempt.

Culex is a secret boss in my game. I wouldn't think anyone else had the balls to sprite him. BTW this competition isn't in MFGG is it? Even if so I won't enter a competition with crap I've done before hand.
