So my computer still shuts off when playing Left 4 Dead and some other games. I decided to run Orthos to see what the problem was, and after about 2 minutes of stressing, I get an Illegal SUMOUT error. Google hasn't helped me much except saying that it is instable and that it needs more voltage, though I haven't undervolted/overclocked anything.

I tried running orthos again, but I set an affinity mask to test only one core at a time. Each core lasted around ten minutes without any error before I stopped it myself. So what exactly is an illegal sumout error and can I fix it? Why does each core work, but both together spill out errors?

SUMOUT? Can you give the full message?

Also, do you happen to know if you're on a low-voltage circuit or something? Try plugging your computer into a different outlet if you can.

This is a desktop, and not a laptop, right?

Desktop yes, and SUMOUT is pretty much all it gives, as well as "possible hardware failure." I do not know if i'm on a low-voltage circuit, which was my original guess. I don't know how to check though, but it wouldnt surprise me since this school is very green.

Well, you could plug in a watt meter (if you have one) and see if it matches the wattage of your power supply, because if it doesn't, then you're not getting enough power.

Or just plug in a lamp or something to the outlet and see if it's brighter when you plug it into a different one (lol).

Your power source may not be giving the full amount it need.
Or, as stated, low-circuit outlet.

Yeah I figured as much, considering that everything in my computer seems to be working fine. I just wish there was a way to make sure.
