I still don't understand.

What would he need to do to convince you he's socialist?

assume I know nothing of what he's done and tell me why you think he's a socialist. you're the one making the accusation- I can't refute it if I don't know the basis of why you're making it.

Don't Europeans think both of the American parties are actually pretty right compared to their own governments

and then there's the fact that public education, law enforcement, and healthcare are all forms of socialism already

QUOTE (MarioMK1 @ Sep 13 2009, 06:26 PM)
Unfortunately neither his bill nor the house's bill agrees. It says we can keep our private insurance, but we can't change anything about it. If you decide you don't like your insurance provider, you can't switch to another private one. If you're ensured by your company and you quit or get fired, you can't keep your old plan and you can't get a private plan. So yes, we can keep our plans if we want, but if you lose or quit it, you can't get it back, and you will be forced into the Government plan.

where did you get this information?
http://www.healthcarereformmyths.org/Healt...ReformMyths.php
see "Americans will be FORCED to change insurance plans"

"No one is going to be forced to do anything. It is called a Public OPTION. Keyword Option. No one will be forced to change insurance plans. The House bill sets forth specifics for the insurance exchange, and includes the public option as one of those exchange plans. The specifications for the insurance exchanges are parallel to current industry standards. Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell knows this. His own office admitted that no one will be forced into any plan."

QUOTE (Pip @ Sep 13 2009, 05:28 PM)
and is coverage for any injury a bad thing?

also, don't bring up the "long lines" thing, because if you're really sick or hurt, you'll get in and not have to wait

But what about things that aren't immediately urgent? I know a Canadian woman who needed a tripply bypass surgery, but because she wasn't in immediate danger of dieing, she was put on a six month waiting list.

She had to come to America to get treatment earlier, where she was told that if he had waited, she would have died.

Plus, healthcare is expensive. How can the Government pay for these new programs if they have no money? They're already running on deficit, printing money to get by. We can hardly fund the programs we already have, such as medicare, medicade, or social security. It's all going bankrupt, and it's not going to hold on much longer unless we start getting actual money.

Without money to actually fund the health care, how will the doctors and nurses get paid for their services? Oftentimes there just aren't enough people to provide the healthcare needed on the Government's watch, even to people in immediate need.

We just don't have the funds to do anything right now.

for the money thing- taxes would be slightly increased, but not more than the health care rates we'd already be paying

And I would think triple bypass surgery would be an urgent thing

Well of course Obama won't come out and say he's Socialist. That would be like giving himself a pink slip. What I'm saying is that what he is doing seems rather socialist to me. If he is socialist he would of course hide it to he COULD get support and thus get elected. I'm pretty sure the corporations at least didn't/don't know if he is or not.

Once again, I'm just stating my opinion. I'm only watching what he does and drawing conclusions.

So he's not only socialist, he's lying about it and swindling the American people because he's just that bad a man.

And you're saying corporations paid millions of dollars to him without checking his political orientation.

He's from Mars too, right?

They're already running on deficit, printing money to get by.

deficit spending is nothing new.

they're not priting money because they promise to pay it back (hence the deficit; if they were simply printing it, we would be worse than Zimbabwe is (was? did they fix that yet?))

It's a real shame that Obama is resorting to deficit spending (I think it's a stupid idea too!), but you have to realize when he came into office, a deficit is all he had to work with- regardless of who was elected, some deficit spending would have happened.

I know. Bush did a lot of deficit spending too. I blindly followed him based on party. I've already vowed never to do the same again.

I just wish the spending would stop. I thank you guys for giving me those links, but I'm taking them with a grain of salt. At the same time I have to re-examine my sources. Maybe read the bill myself and see what it says and draw my own conclusions.

But not right now. I'm confused and I have a massive headache. Thanks for the info anyway guys.
