In the end you'll be paying for a better private sector as well. As the government ends up being the bare minimum, all the private business end up having to compete with that and be better than that- these improvements wouldn't exist without the government program as there'd be no need to have them.

Actually, many politicians have already said that they want to phase out the private option, Obama included.

Because the Government has more power than that. If they can control your healthcare than they can take it away, or force you to do things to keep it. I'm not saying our Government will do that, but there is potential for it to happen.

though to be fair, he's become more right wing since he's become elected. mostly out of necessity (single payer healthcare would be impossible to pass) but also because he tries to please hecklers who will never be pleased in the first place. Hell not to long ago it was going around that they were considering removing the public option from the bill- luckily people who wanted got up, said "what the ****?" and protested to remind Obama that people do support him.

Not in this bill, there isn't.

there's just as much potential for that now as there was 30 years ago and as there will be when this bill gets passed. If they wanted to do that they would have to change things.

BTW guys, if you can get the majority of Americans on your side with National Health Care, then you've won fare and square. Until then though, the Government is supposed to represent the majority, and we don't think it's a good idea.

4,000 children not born in maternity wards is not an issue. The report makes it sound like they're being forced there, when in fact, it is just a statistic for births per year outside of hospital maternity wards.
