BTW guys, if you can get the majority of Americans on your side with National Health Care, then you've won fare and square. Until then though, the Government is supposed to represent the majority, and we don't think it's a good idea.

The US government hasn't done things this way since the death of the Whig party.

They didn't do it in the Civil War,
or in Reconstruction,
or the Gilded age,
or the Progressive era,
or the World War era,
or the Cold War,
or when your buddies were in office.

Because we don't think it works, and it often times leads to communism as a result of politicians getting more power hungry because human nature naturally sways towards corruption with power.

That wouldn't be communism then. That'd be a dictatorship with false communist ideals.

I know he was voted in. He had a good campagn and won the election fair and square.

But obviously people have been re-thinking his election given that his poll numbers are lowering.

Far from obvious, that's actually wrong.

Nobody's "re-thinking" Obama's victory. The fervor just died down like it does with every president, ever.

they're lowering because he hasn't been doing ****, spending too much time campaigning ideas even though he's already in office and already has the power to pass them. He's a moron trying to please people who aren't going to listen to a word he says anyway.

I don't like his policies, not he himself.

The statistics are on my side, and I've already pointed them out. Most Americans don't want National Healthcare, that's why so many politicians, even on the democrat side, are hesitant to sign onto it. They want to get re-elected, and since a lot of America doesn't want it, anyone who signs the bill might not make it through the next election.

So what you're saying is that Obama should just ignore the opinion of the American people and pass whatever the heck he wants?

I think the American people are a lot broader than hecklers in town meetings and white people holding up silly signs- he's already on the side of most Americans. Why is he wasting his time?

QUOTE (MarioMK1 @ Sep 14 2009, 12:04 AM)
"because of a lack of midwives and hospital beds."

This implies that there was not enough work force to accommodate the Women in labor, which is the responsibility of the Government to provide and pay for.

But this is likely to be a fluke that will be remedied by more spending to get more beds and midwives.

Daily Mail. Daily Mail.

Read the article slowly.

"Health chiefs admit a lack of maternity beds is partly to blame for the crisis"

Notice how only the papers own conjecture and specific situations seem to be the arguement? Women give birth all over because hey, a lot of women don't go into hospital before their water's break and then there is often difficulty finding space in the maternity wards.

"Jon Skewes, a director at the Royal College of Midwives, said: 'The rise in the number of births in other than a designated labour bed is a concern. We would want to see the detail behind these figures to look at why this is happening.

'There is no doubt that maternity services are stretched, and that midwives are working harder and harder to provide good quality care. However, we know the Government is putting more money into the service.

'The key now is to make sure this money is spent by the people controlling the purse strings at a local level.'

Care services minister Phil Hope said: 'The number of maternity beds in the NHS reflects the number of women wanting to give birth in hospital. Giving birth can be unpredictableand it is difficult to plan for the exact time and place of every birth."

etc etc

No, I'm saying that the statistics are conflicting, which means that we don't know which one is right. Essentially, you saying mine is wrong by pointing out yours isn't doing anything because I still have my source, and it would then come down to how trustworthy we consider each other's sources.
