it wouldn't surprise me if 57% of American people wanted to replace all of congress.

though the average person only has a say about 3 of them afaik, because congressmen are elected by region, not overall popularity across the nation- the whole point is to represent your area

mine's an answer to such a statistic as yours
have you read the sources it cites?
http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/141488/...misinformation/
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...9072101677.html

I see.

Well then perhaps if what you say is true and the bill gets passed, then that's alright.

I wish the Republicans would wake up and figure out that there is a healthcare problem, and that they should come up with a conservative option. That way at least I'd have some sort of voice.

We'll see how this pans out in the end anyway.

QUOTE (Hippoman @ Sep 13 2009, 07:10 PM)
That wouldn't be communism then. That'd be a dictatorship with false communist ideals.

Yeah let me try to further clarify this as the fact that people still confuse Stalinism with Communism annoys the hell out of me.

The true form of Communism Karl Marx envisioned receives little support not due to the fact that it was tyrannical or "evil," but rather because the chances of reaching the Utopian final stage are unimaginably low. (Also because American propaganda considers Stalinism to be the "true" form of Communism.") Marx's theoretical utopia had no money, government, or religion, and had complete equality in all forms.

Vladimir Lenin did not follow Marx's ideas, he argued that Communism could be reached by other means. He created a more authoritative form of Communism, known as "Leninism", and attempted to bring the future Soviet Union to it's Utopian stage through it's government.

...But Lenin died, and Stalin took his place. Although his form of Communism, "Stalinism", still had a few Communist ideals, it really was more a twisted form of fascism, and had little to no intent on reaching the final stage at all.

also I apologize for using the Huffington post in that last link, obvious democrat bias site, but it does explain what's going on fairly well and you seem like the type to filter out anything that disagrees with you anyway

I like how the word "****" is offensive enough to be censored, but a ****ing Swastika is just fine to show.

I dunno. I know a lot about my side of the argument, so even if it was biased, maybe it would at least tell me about the other side.

I'm all confused now. I still have my suspicions about whether this is an issue of power though, and what exactly the government will do if this does get past. But regardless of all that, this was still rather informative.

Now I'm going to leave this discussion. Sorry for utterly ruining this thread.
