| QUOTE (Pip @ Sep 24 2009, 03:37 PM) | I was talking more about how you were all "THE WII HAS NO GOOD NEW GAMES" and how the 360 is so interesting right now
Gee, it just got a release, didn't it?!
Consoles are more exciting when there's a new game for them
and maybe if you (collective) got the stick out of your ass and let yourself have a little fun, you might enjoy things like Wii Sports a bit more |
I liked the 360 more when I wasn't even aware ODST was coming out.
And I have tried Wii Sports many times. The problem is there's no real challenge beyond flailing your arms, no real skill involved, it gets boring and repetitive fast, and no replay value (or even play value, for that matter). It's an okay game if you're having a party and you want people to play briefly and take turns, but it's not really a good I'm-going-to-sit-down-and-beat-this-game kind of game. And the problem is there's very few of those on the Wii right now (there are some Wii Sports-esque games disguised as long games using the guise of achievements or unlockable content as an excuse for not having a real plot and real gameplay), and many (though not all) of the ones released for Wii are terribly engineered and created just to abuse the waggle-stick's ability. I don't want a gimped game just so I can wave a little white stick around and feel like I'm "in" the game. Gimme a good game with maybe just a little less waggle-stick interactivity (like Galaxy) and I'll be fine, thanks, Nintendo.
You see what I mean, though? Wii's become more of a party console than a game console. It's like Twister or a deck of cards -- fun for a night with your friends, but it costs you like two hundred bucks.
Not really worth it in my opinion when you can just play a board game or something instead.

1) who cares if there's challenge? if you can't have fun without being challenged, then make up your own challenges 2) Nintendo's always been a "party" type console, especially starting with the n64. Everybody knew it would end up like that, so why did you buy it if you wouldn't enjoy it? 3) The 360 also had a lead on the others by being released first, so obviously there have been more games released for it that will be fun
stop trying to be cool and edgy and have fun pls k thx

1.) I do. That's one of my criteria for a game or a series of games for a system. It doesn't have to be your criteria, but it's mine, and if something doesn't measure up to that, then I don't like it. It's called preferences -- they're standards by which we judge things. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Also, at the price Wii games cost, I don't want to have to "make up my own challenges" and supplement for things that should've been in the game to begin with. I'd rather just buy a 360 game and get the challenge already provided instead of having to play pretend, thanks. 2.) I didn't buy it. 3.) Even proportionately speaking, there're less games on the Wii that I enjoy than on the 360.

Fix'd.
Seriously, why can't you just accept some people have different standards of fun. I'm not knocking anyone that likes the Wii, I just don't find it very fun myself.

Because you totally missed what I meant by "make up your own challenges" - speed runs
- max number of enemies killed possible
- x amount of [activity] without getting hit
etc. Or, experiment with things in the game; I've gotten at least three or four hours of fun by simply going to Brawl's training mode and seeing how items interact with each other and maximizing damage that you can do and you're one to talk about people having their own preferences
