I'm User A. What would you have to say?

Get windows XP, install it, fiddle with it, then get linux and install it into another partition and fiddle with it.

Either one you can probably get easier low-end games working.
Don't get vista or windows 7. Yes, don't get 7. Why? Because even if 7 looks good now, it'll be even better later on. And dirt cheap once the next windows comes out.
And yes there's a new windows coming out.

Now, you might ask "So uh what distro do I get?" well, personally, I prefer xubuntu. It's clean and fast and if anything goes wrong, just google the problem and "ubuntu" and you usually get a good solution.
However, there's one thing still worrying me about linux. Tablet support, last time I tried, it wasn't really all that well supported.

And my opinion is the best one because it's the most impartial one regarding windows and linux. I have experienced both and I'd would so want the best of both worlds, but since that's not possible, the games made me settle with windows.

I'm going to say this once. And only once. Sorry, OL, but you are one of the many people who are making GNU/Linux look bad. I wish I had a nicer way to say it, but I can't. Don't try to convince people to switch. Show people the unbiased differences between the two, and if you provide good arguments, they will switch on their own. Granted, you give good enough reasons.

Linux is extraordinarily easy to work if you actually spend five minutes to read a guide and know what the hell you're doing.

I installed Arch Linux. It's literally a step below slackware (which most would agree is the hardest-to-install-and-use-damn-this-is-a-pain Linux which is for the most part just Linux and nothing else).

It's extremely easy to use, granted you have enough intelligence to read directions.

I figured that out when I saw all of the negative comments in this thread. I only made this thread to end some of the misconceptions, myths, and lies about Linux. I was NOT trying to get anyone to switch. :\

Fact: I don't hate Linux, I never have, and I know it works pretty well. (Ever try using Unix or Java based OSes? Fun.)

Fact: I'm all good with Windows. It's fast enough, very convenient, I'm not stupid as all hell, so I don't get viruses, I like being able to play ALL my games (without having to run extra programs), and I'm already very used to it.

Fact: Linux isn't for me.

INTELLIGENCE?

I was making a point. It's no different than people saying "wah, you have to use math to program? drag-and-drop for me!" (no offense to people using drag-and-drop, of course)

Yes, but the way you're saying it can very easily come across as "I use Linux because I'm smart enough to."

There's better ways to say "you have to pay attention to use this OS" without using words like "smart," "stupid," and "intelligent."

doesn't linux have a lot more in common with macs since they both are derived from unix (or at least at one point were, i dunno)

Yes, this is true. I believe Macs can run Linux ELFs if you have X11 installed your Mac.
