I don't know, I just like the idea that there's a world constructed and there's an actual battle going on. It's more interesting to me than watching a static version of Sonic 2.

And he is a teenager and he does ruin Robotnik's life. There's just other stuff that happens in between.

he just described the very definition of a mary sue

I thought Mary Sue was a character with no flaws who's completely perfect and whom everyone loves

They were jokey and lame. They had to change the format or they would have been canceled. That's WHY they changed format.
