x = y
x^2 = xy
x^2-y^2 = xy-y^2
(x+y)(x-y) = y(x-y)
x+y = y
2y = y
2 = 1
1 = 0

2+2=5

:D

umm i believe the best way to solve a problem is isolating the variable of focus

also any number divided by 0 is not infinity

any rational function will give you the denominator of zero as a discontinuity

also any number divided by 0 is not infinity

1/2 is how many times 2 fits in 1
1/0 is how many times 0 fits in 1, or infinity

y=x*0/1 is a horizontal line
y=x*1/0 is a vertical line

QUOTE (RetroXYZ @ Sep 30 2009, 04:05 PM)
1/2 = the amount of times 2 fits within 1
1/0 = the amount of times 0 fits within 0, or infinity

*within 1

a denominator of a positive that approximates 0 will be infinite

but you can't determine how many times 0 can multiply to be zero

it's obvious that 0 to the power of anything will be 0, making 0/0 an uncertainty

now if we use this on 1/0, its possible that any number divided by 0 will not be a real number, shown by any rational function

then, why has nobody defined a variable constant for x/0

what letter hasn't been used yet

i don't know

but if 1/0 was infinity, then that would mean that y would equal a constant if y=x/0

but no, there's no actual value that will connect the two parts of the function, no matter how high or low you go up/down the y axis

x=0.30459553731955336 or x=-1.8760241087481249

alternatively

x= √233-11/14 (≈2/7) or x= -11-√233/14 (≈-13/7)

i'm ashamed because i had to look up the equation to do this

idk but

the tangent of 0 degrees is 0

and the tangent happens to be the rate at wich the lines approximates a completely vertical line

hmm

0/0=0?
