Star's M&L:BiS Sprite Topic of Horrible Sprites, I finally understand the style now :P

Hello to you all! I apologize for randomly popping up here in like months since the last visit. It's been a while. Just been busy with life and since it's my senior year, I'm trying to enjoy the time I got left and trying to get ready for college. It's a big change for me...anywhoo personal stuff aside, I've been playing M&L:BiS recently. I can describe the game in one word: EPIC. I love it. I've been craving to sprite in the style again since I played it and now I finally fully understand this new style.

Culex: It all started with a pm from ShyGuy Grey. He showed me his Culex and asked if I could fix it up. I never feel like working over another person's sprite so I made my own. Culex will be carried on by ShyGuy Grey when I'm done with him. Having trouble choosing the pallete right now..

Yoshi: Oh man...I swear so many people have tried to sprite this guy. I got tired of it so I just had to make my own. I think it's alright. I need to find a good green pallete for him and find a way to fix his cheeks.

I apologize I'm not showing any work on Smithy or the Wario Bros. I'm not ready to show them yet. Especially Smithy. After coming back to work on him, there were some things I didn't like so I'm remaking alot of stuff. Here's a taste of what I'm doing and I hope it makes a dramatic difference.

Something looks off about Culex. I know you only have one sprite as your reference, so you have to guess at a lot of his features. He seems to be smiling in your sprite where the official sprite just looks like his mouth is open.

Can't wait for more.

Holy ****, these are awsome, especially the culex.

I prefer the lime-green Yoshi palette to the one that uses Luigi's palette.

If I didn't know better I might think that Yoshi was ripped straight out of the game. Excellent work SP.

They look great, only complaint is I think the Yoshi should be darker (the lime green one)

Oh hey if it isn't SP, hows it goin pal? So about these pixels, yoshi seems pretty solid, almost as if he was ripped, Culex looks fantastic too, I remember when Grey first IM'd me him it was impressive but my oh my did you take it over the top. And as usual, the Smithy tank is rockin, but I still wish you would've went with the wizard head.

Now for Crits, since I was nice first now I can be rude(little art school humour there bare with me). Well as I said Culex does look fantastic, but his mid section is becoming skinny, maybe it won't look that way when the rest is on there, but you may wanna thicken that up, Culex is a strong and brutal character not a self starver to fit into a pair of jeans character. I know the arm is a sketch, but eh it's lacking form, I maybe jumping the gun but you may wanna structure it some more. That seems about it, I can't wait to see the rest.
(PS. Marth/Dark kamek made it through a post with out bringing up Bridgman's book guys! Oh wait he just di-*shot*)

Looks great, what makes the BiS style different from ordinary M&L style?

Well, it's slightly larger than the original, uses more interal AA, and I don't believe it uses as many shades as 2. So it lies in between 1 and 2.

I've found 3 closer to 1 in terms of looks, especially for things like background objects. Just wondering if I could pinch a bunch of BiS sprites and put 'em in my game without them clashing =P

Probably not due to sizes and what not.

Anyways Star, awesome job on Smithy. is that comp between you and Ridge still going?

Hello there, Dark Kamek. : o I've been doing great and you? And who said I wasn't going to be doing the wizard head for the duel? HINTHINT Oh btw, I'll see what I can do about Culex's anatomy. Culex isn't suppose to look too buff but has more of a light-weight body type anatomy so the change won't be too dramatic.

As for the duel between me and Ridge, it's been at a standstill since things have been going on betwen both of us. I'm wanting to reopen the duel while things arn't TOO busy but I'm gonna catch up with Ridge before we open it. I believe I discussed this before with Ridge. It won't be based on a time period, but instead we will have an equal amount of stuff made like 3 sets of attacks, 1 idle, some overworld, and ect. Basicly we're making a sheet for the duel. :P
