Ok so I decided to play some more Kingdom Hearts on my old launch fat ds and the sound wouldn't come out of the speakers. I made sure the volume was up and tried using headphones but still no sound whatsoever in the menu, the game, and other games I tried. Am I totally screwed and have to pick up a lite or i or is there a way to fix this.

This started happening to my old DS as well. I was playing MMSF2 when the speakers started phasing out parts of the sound, or having one temporarily die out for awhile. (Headphones too) I think it's just cause our old DS's are showing their age by now (I played mine constantly, it was because it was starting to break down I got a DSi.), though I'm open to if there's any solutions available.

all I can say is:
1) play without sound
or
2) get a new one

9:26:34 PM: ok
9:26:43 PM: cheapo headphones can stress out the amp and fry it
9:27:00 PM: since they have lower impedance elements
9:27:02 PM: to get louder sound

Thats my friend theory on why this is happening, other than that, I have nothing.

Sorry.
