Okay, well I've been wondering about this for a while now, and I just want to get this answered (if possible).
SMB3 on a real NES
SMB3 on an emulator
See how the vertical bar on the left is a lot wider on the NES than it is on the emulator? Is there any reason why it's like that? I've only seen it that wide on the real hardware (not in VC games, not in hardware clones, etc). I'm sorry if this is a really random question (let alone one that no one knows the answer to) but I just want to see if there's any explanation to it.
Thanks!

probably because emulators don't always 100% emulate the hardware

The emulator is probably intentionally clipping the bar.

The Mega Drive also exhibits this behavior by having a bar on the right hand side of the screen that is the first colour of the first palette line... this is even more prevalent on PAL consoles by having bars on the top and bottom too.

Long story short, the bar is suppose to be there, get your NES modded if it is that annoying.

Also, if the bar is there depends on the TV too, some TV's preserve it, some don't.

My Plasma keeps the WHOLE bar while my CRT clips off some of it.

I don't actually know if you can even render anything in that bar. smile.gif
