Definitely improved from when I last saw it. However, I still feel like it could be edited a bit more before animation it.

- The pose seems a bit awkward, most likely because it's still in a "2d" stance. The face positioning is fine, but the angle of the body doesn't exactly work. My only explanation that could help in making it 3d:

Think of 2d as being on a 180 degree plane. When you tilt it, it becomes more like 135 degrees for M&L style, if you understand what I mean.

Basically, instead of a red square for the lower body, show a little of the top face of that cylinder, so instead of looking like a square, it looks a bit more like a cylinder.

Sorry if my explanation sucks.

- Move the eyes a bit closer together.

- Add more anti-aliasing.

- The contrast between the lightest and darkest shade of red looks a bit weird, as the darker red stands out more (on the face). Make the darker shade into the middle shade.

- Shape of the feet is still a bit awkward. As I said, make them a bit more triangular in appearance, or even like a computer mouse.


Again, continue to work hard at it. It's getting better, it just needs some extra work to correct a few issues.

I'd suggest starting over, but you're getting closer. Make that black line that I assume is the cylinder red.

The face still has that annoyingly dark red, which is clashing greatly with the other red. Doesn't Mario only have two shades of red anyways? You shouldn't really need that third one.


From what I see, M&L AA involves doing it only most non-straight outlines, so there's still a few places you could add AA to.

Getting better, but I'll address the Breaker Beam now.

- The shading is rather inconsistent. The face looks okay, but I don't really like how you shaded the purple portions, and that yellow ring on his head. For the part above the yellow ring, it should look more like it's shaded like a sphere, to give it more of a 3d shape. The bottom around the face is fine, but maybe an extra shade or two, which will make it also look more 3d.

- The line art could probably be fixed in a few spots, like the axes on the side of his head. Make it look more curved on the end.


While I'd love to denounce the fact you used pillowshading on your lasers, I'd call it a bit of an exception, as it actually looks good that way.

Look at the official sprite for it. That should sorta give you an idea on how to shade it.
