Just left a church from that branch. They're cool on the outside, but there's always a few weird ones in there. You may have hit the jackpot of weird by finding a church where they're all like that, however.

Yeah some denominations are weird. Latter Day Saints is pretty weird too I hear.

Heck, the only reason I go to a denominational church (Baptist) is because they're the closest to the Bible as far as I can tell. It helps that the preacher jokes about his own denomination too.

bet someone from there would think the same about a different church.

Baptists(Protestant Sect) are pretty good, pretty much straight foward sermons, no brainwashing involved. I'm a Lutheran and it is much like Baptist. You know, I like my religion unfiltered, and to the point, not silly or creepy.

Good point, im sure judaism has sects with major differences too, and those differences are what attracts or detracts people to the church/temple.

the point is that someone who's not a part of a given religion will look at said religion, see how its members believe the strangest things, and say it's due to "brainwashing" -- and rightfully so.

Most people are part of some religion though, so you can't say that other people are being brainwashed into believing crazy things if you yourself believe other far-out ideas. Atheists, yeah, they definitely see this, but for the most part I still think most people are part of something.

I don't think people necessarily consider it brainwashing, I think they just assume that religion is a normal thing and whatever you believe is fine.

of course eventually i think religion will mostly die out in america and other places, so yeah, you'll be right at some point

I dthink we've been down this road with Keyzer. It ended with him being temp banned.

Then again you're not really flaming so whatever. I don't really think is brainwashing if you do it voluntarilly, which is pretty much the only way to be religious anywho, otherwise you're just faking it or you don't want to believe it.

that's the whole point of brainwashing

you think you're doing it voluntarily, and by the time you'd actually be able to choose for yourself, you're too terrified of going to hell/other religious punishment to leave
