Er...... couldn't the parents just tail behind the kids while they trick or treat? Or are they way beyond lazy to even do that? The reasoning behind this is that its for their own safety because old people are scared because of all the break ins. ' Trick or Treat! ' ' Oh god, please don't kill me, here, take my money and run! ' Er.... no. Well, at the very least they are offering an alternative but who wants to bet that the fire alarm will go off during said party?

Did you actually expect something here!?

Frankly, this is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in the past month or so. First, it's believed that every single one of the stories of tampered candy has either been an outright hoax or a grisly error from the candy factory; certainly, no one has ever been convicted or even arrested for trying to poison or cut people with Halloween candy. Second, the petty vandalism that sometimes rears its ugly head on Halloween comes from bigger kids who aren't really interested in dressing up as Spiderman any more. These kids are going to be out causing trouble even if the fire station is passing out free candy; in fact, they're probably out late just about every night. Third, "safety" is kind of a subjective concept. Even if you wear your seat belt and drive sober, you put your life on the line every time you step in a motor vehicle, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't ever drive or ride in a car.
For purposes of full disclosure, I didn't trick-or-treat at all past the time I was about seven years old, but that was because candy was getting harder and harder to find as everyone in my neighborhood got older and in poorer health.

Course clear! You got a card.
