My computer won't turn on for a week. Ever since I shutdown on Oct 2, 2009, it won't turn on if I press the on buttom. I opened my computer an saw the mother board light is on. Is something wrong with the Power Supply?

My computer stat:
Windows XP SP2
Pentium 4
Power Supply: TGR Model NO: FB-200N25

P.S.Now I'm using the Libary computer!

Well hello there! You have stumbled upon my old account at MFGG! Well...I was pretty cringy back then. But hey, it is what it is, you can't change the past.  Everyone has to start off from somewhere right?

Can you give more explanation? What were you doing with your computer around the time it stopped working? Have you done anything that could have damaged it?

P4-era?

Look carefully at your motherboard and examine all the capacitors
user posted image

They will be different sizes. Pay attention to the tops, and see if any of them are domed, bulging, or leaking at the top. If you do find capacitors like that, then your motherboard has failed.

If you don't find any defective capacitors, they could have still failed in your power supply, giving you enough voltage to see lights on the board, but not actually start the computer. This was common in Dell P4s.

It could still be something else entirely. I recommend finding a friend who does this stuff on the side and can help you isolate the problem.

The connection to the power supply might've been disconnected / fried.
Or rather, if there was no light, that'd be the case.

Odds are something short'd on the motherboard. If that is the case, it'll need replaced.
My laptop got shorted once; I'd turn it on, the HDD would spin, the computer would have the light showing that, but nothing else ever happened. Works fine now (besides Stand-By not working, but I think its a Vista problem).
