the development wiki is really helping
does anyone know how to properly start a source mod
because every time I create one it crashes

How about jumping stuns? Like the spike boot mechanic from the RMF pack in TF2. That'd be good.

Would you bounce off people's heads if you jumped on them? I like the idea of getting combo jumps. And momentum would have to effect it! I'd love to break a 100-metre fall by landing on someones head and springboarding back into the air. That would be fantastic.

Well you would also aim fireballs and stuff. It being first person makes it original. People's heads would just need to be big enough so that landing on them isn't too hard.

Different powerups could exist, like the tanooki suit, invisibility cap, etc. As well as standard stuff like Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers.

Invisibility caps are all strategically hidden, and act like the spy's cloak, but with a meter that can't be replenished or cancelled. Your team still sees you as you see yourself in SM64.

Super Mushrooms would have to replenish health, in accordance with my HUD mockup.
In correspondence to the health packs from TF2:
Mini Mushroom: PEELZ Pill Bottle
Super Mushroom: Small Health Box
Mega Mushroom: Large Medi-kit

Perhaps we could have a meleeing system like the one in Halo and L4D, in which the melee move is an additional attack to every weapon, rather than a separate entity in itself.

powerups should work like weapons

so you have to pull out the cap to be invisible

that way we don't have invincible players firing shotguns

This game won't have shotguns.

I like the idea of a class based system where you play as Mario enemies. classes would be very simple and have key roles in gameplay. eg.

Hammer Bro, 175 health, 90% speed.

Throws arcing hammers which travel relatively slow and do around 75 damage with slight knock back. Can melee when close to knock enemies back away from objectives/protect himself when low on health

And then, every once in awhile, one player spawns as bowser and punches cars at people

Oh man, I can see this becoming a total l4d ripoff, which is awesome.
