Mecha has decided to follow your party!, now with battlecut!

but kinda overdid it on the number of colors..

still came out pretty imo

Pretty cool, actually. Transparent one in your avatar looks better, somehow..

well shrinking it down and giving it a slight inner glow to make it have smooth dark edges might've helped...

on another note this took me about 3 1/2 hours :X

Looks really nice. And it's understandible to use a few more shades since Mecha has only one base color.

What I'd do is just add a faint blue tint to the scarf, and make the ear and the red patch the same color.

That would solve the problem of it not fitting the style IMO.

But it does look very nice.

well I shoulda done the shading with a purple tint to it, I noticed that early on but just opted to keep going without it...
the ear came last so I figured I'd give it it's own pallete since I was already far enough off from the style ^^;

Pretty sweet style, yours is quite different though, but not necessarily worst.

Remember now, hue shifting is important!

Whenever a style specifically leans toward specific hues it's a very good idea to use these whenever possible because it can make it much more in style. Believe it or not, colouring techniques can define a style more than the line art can.

I believe Disgaea particularly uses these cooler hues to give off the darker netherworldly feel that represents the game. Even though it has a lighthearted sense of humour, this is represented by the writing while the art gives off the darker feeling.

That said, I think your drawing style is close enough. It's not exactly spot on but it's befitting of Mecha as a character and I rather imagine this is how he would fit in Disgaea. Still, though, had you used the proper hue when shading it probably would've looked much more exact!

i have all the art of the other 2 games on my comp and a few other nippon ichi games, but they all have different styles from the first disgaea.
