What if, Nintendo went out of business?

You don't seem to understand, if a company gets more money, they can invest it into making games better with more experienced writers and coders and artists. That's why not that many games at MFGG even come close to comparing to games made by professional developers.

Good point, he needs to think of who will succeed him. I know it can't be me, I'm not Japanese, so I guess the glass ceiling works both ways.

This question has been asked a million times before, some people really believed it was possible during the GCN era but the truth is Nintendo has an incredible (CASH) war chest that will prevent this from happening for the foreseeable future. It would seriously take more than 10 years of no one buying a single Nintendo product practically, just to put them at risk, and even then they could seek the help of private investors no longer affiliated with the company.

Not being profitable is something Nintendo practically doesn't understand, they've only posted a loss something like 3 times in their entire history as being publicly traded. If you want a real what if situation, it would be -if- (huge if) Sony decided to get out of consoles or collapsed outright, would another company jump into the hardware fray? Or would it then be deemed too risky, when Microsoft is only barely eeking out a profit from the Xbox division? It's a sad state of affairs, but I think it's naive to think it could ever lead to a one console future, someone will always be offering up the next big thing.
