My latest character in a series I am planning.

The image is way too big, so click here instead!

Name: Yang Ayashi
Age: 19
Occupation: Ninja bodyguard
Hobbies: Reading manga, cooking
Favorite Food: Tempura
Favorite Drink: Sweet Tea
Favorite Song: Dragonfly (SMiLE.dk)
Favorite Animal: Shark
Favorite Quote: "To know your enemy, you must first know yourself" -Sun Tzu
Likes: Weapons, cute girls
Dislikes: Heavy violence, spicy food
Bio: A girl of few words but lots of battle experience, Yang is a seasoned ninja with a plethora of techniques to exhibit. Despite the fact that she appears to show no emotion and wears an intimidating glare, she is a very gentle person when in the right mood. Yang is usually hired by rich families that need a competent bodyguard. But there's a catch: she will only bodyguard cute girls (her sexual preference is debatable). Around especially cute girls she tends to blush profusely. Her fighting expertise is unrivaled. She is adept with any and all weapons, but she likes using portible ninja tools such as shirukens, katanas, bombs and talismans. Not only does she excel at battle, she's also an excellent cook, capable of coming up with many delectable dishes and even inventing her own.

I'll get to the art after I rip the bio to shreds.

Name: Yang Ayashi

Not much to say.
QUOTE
Age: 19

At least it isn't 16.
QUOTE
Occupation: Ninja bodyguard

Ninja Bodyguard? What is this bull****, just put it as bodyguard instead of trying to make it cool by adding ninja to it.
QUOTE
Hobbies: Reading manga, cooking

Uh huh...
QUOTE
Favorite Food: Tempura

I can see we are going for a japanese person.
QUOTE
Favorite Drink: Sweet Tea

Alright.
QUOTE
Favorite Song: Dragonfly (SMiLE.dk)

I don't like it, I sure hope that it isn't one of your favorites.
QUOTE
Favorite Animal: Shark

S'alright.
QUOTE
Favorite Quote: "To know your enemy, you must first know yourself" -Sun Tzu

Way to be generic for a warrior.
QUOTE
Likes: Weapons, cute girls

Hurr, a warrior that likes their toys. Also, the lesbianism best be something that will prove to be preventing in the story and not just added for something stupid. If it is just to test your writing abilities okay.
QUOTE
Dislikes: Heavy violence, spicy food

>Bodyguard
>Likes weapons
>Hates a lot of violence.
Yeah, uh huh. Add more dislikes and likes.
QUOTE
Bio: Female veteran ninja. Knows how to control her emotions. Good pay, yet has a job description that doesn't make much sense. I'm going to add hints to her being homosexual in an absurd way that makes her pay demographic that only a child's perfect world would allow her to live a good life. She is gay. She fights well. Warrior Sue with ninja favouring. Cook expert.

My summary of the paragraph. READ IT.

She has no knees. Her legs are are only 1/2 to 3/4 of the size they should be in proportion to the rest of her body. She lacks a nose. Only one eye is visible while the other can be seen from the hair. Her ponytail makes no sense in its angular bends, look at some real ones. HOLY Regene! SHE HAS A TERRIBLY HUGE BUST. HER BREASTS ARE WIDER THAN HER HIPS! The line for the collar bone is too thick. The shorts are simply drawn terribly, with no sense of dimension. Either make them curve down to show they hand from the front or show a bit of the back-side of them so it seems like they hang from the back or that there is some perspective. Her right leg, but mostly lower leg and foot, is at an impossible angle for her pose. Why does she have two fingers up with her thumb not even slightly visible? Not to mention paper isn't self-supporting and bends down. What is her left hand doing, it isn't angled to be at her side yet you shaded her sash-ribbon. It also isn't shaped to be on the sash as you simply drew the hand like it was a few inches away. JPG ruins this kind of art. Resaving as PNG doesn't help. Her right hand is extremely ill-defined in the knuckles. She has really broad shoulders. She lacks eyebrows.

OH! OH! OH! I forgot this!

Read this. 5 times. Read it every time before drawing until you can draw realism.

Because artists always have to draw realism...! [/sarcasm]

As a previous drawing I/figure drawing student (and getting As in both), I had to draw 18x24 inch realistic pictures. Although both of my teachers said that I could draw realism really well, I never enjoyed drawing it and I had much more fun drawing cartoons/anime.

Besides, Sparker doesn't want to be a professional artist, so he doesn't need to read this.

Although I agree about the flaws on her anatomy. He can look up books on anatomy (like Loomis and Bridgman), study from them, and incorporate it into his anime pics. They're easily found online too. He doesn't have to exclusively draw realism in order to improve his sense of anatomy.

Well my school's art teacher made it clear to us(we had about 5 people who wanted to draw manga) that to really learn how to draw anything well you will have learn to do it from observation and usually realism. I hate doing it too, but I also assume that anatomy falls under realism so you are right Ashura.

Anime can actually be a good style when drawn right. Most of the major flaws have been stated, so here are some tiny errors. First of all, the coloring is a tad sloppy around the edges, so you might want to fix that up. Lastly, the blurred pupil really doesn't look too appealing. It would've looked better un-blurred.

Other than that I think you did pretty good on this!
