If you could take one game and modify it while keeping the main idea behind it, what game would you choose to modify?

Basically, if there's one game that you really loved the idea behind but really wish had gone better, which game would you choose?

For me, it would probably be Metroid Prime 3, since I loved the first two, but the second one completely destroyed the trilogy (even though it was the last one, anyways).

Also, Nuts & Bolts should have been a platformer, Sonic Unleashed didn't need a werehog, and Street Fighter IV should have been 2D.

And Sonic the Fighters should have had more characters…

I'd probably change TP and make it more moonlike open and immersive. A little less linear. It had a great feel to it, but it felt rushed a lot of stuff never got fleshed out.

Any game in the Disgaea series and make them less grindy


the system and customization and all is nice, but it'd be great if it were executed a little better so it were possible to outsmart enemies and such rather than just GRIND GRIND GRIND two characters to uber stats and smash through the game with them

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

-Rank up the diificulty a ton.
-Change the camera angle to OoT styled.
-Make it so you don't have to do the temple of the Ocean King a million-billion times.
-Add more originality.
-Change the amount of shades on the models to one.

Pokémon Puzzle League -> Tetris Attack 64 (or Panel de Pon 64)
Or Lip as secret trainer with Yoshi as Pokémon to refer to the prequels.

Also, away with Subspace Emissary from Brawl and in with an improved Melee Adventure Mode. There is little to no reference to other games in the stages and most of the enemies are brand new. IT'S A FRIGGIN CROSS-OVER FREE FOR ALL!!! Redeads, Octoroks, the polarbears and those small fluffy white dudes from Ice Climber should have been left in and enemies like badniks and Kremlins should have been added and those stages should have been themed after various games.
The Subspace Emissary is also probably the reason for those character cuts. Sakurai did mention that we should not worry for they'll try to fit it on one disc.
Now that I mention it, SSE on a seperate disc could would have been better IMO.

But enough about Brawl.

Probably Paper Mario, as it's likely my favorite game of all-time.

I'd make a lot of those beta badges usable, make the end of the game harder, and allow you to level your stats higher than 50-50-30 (maybe 200-200-99 or such?). A Pit-of-100-Trials-esque challenge would be sweet, too. You never know, a DS remake of the original could still be possible.

That or one of the sequel SSB's, but I figure anyone can find a zillion ways to improve on SSBB, and SSBM doesn't have much lacking, IMO.

Oh, @Moneyman, heck yes to both (especially the latter).
