Why does charisma (or grammar) always defeat logic, in an argument?

I do agree. Arguments are all about charisma (or on the internet, spelling and grammar) these days. If you can give off the right vibe, you can destroy in debates.
As an example, in law class in high school we would often be given cases which we had to argue. Half the class would go on one side, and half to the other. I was, in every case, given the side that wasn't really the one of "public opinion" so to speak which meant if we didn't have good points, we would lose simply because the jury (a smaller group of students) would side with the "nice" side simply because it seemed nicer.
We ended up winning most of the debates, and my group was thankful to me for that. I wasn't coming up with the most amazing rebuttles, but I used charisma generally. Being 6'5" and having the other side sitting, I loomed over them, speaking heavily with my hands, and nailed home my points. It simply made my ideas seem better than those that would be sort of nervously stammered by a shy student because they simply seem unsure of themself.
I think that's a big part of it. If you can debate with a straightforward manner that is charismatic and strong, you sound like you know your stuff even if, in truth, you're spouting bull****.
