Forum Transition Schedule

Although I was strongly considering throwing the switch earlier today without any forewarning, I didn't have the time available to babysit you.

You should expect the transition to the new software to take place on Friday, November 6th (5 days from now). There is no definite time but probably late afternoon, EST.

The current board will not be immediately shut down, although it will be made clear that the transition is taking place. The board will be archived 1 - 2 days after, or when we are satisfied that nothing catastrophic has taken place during the transition. And because this is in the back of several individual's minds, you will be held accountable for your actions on this board until its archival, so don't assume this is an opportunity to be stupid.

During the first week of registration, we will be protecting usernames. That means if you decide to be silly and register a username someone currently holds on this board, and they challenge you for that name, we will forcefully take it from you. After the first week, we will not guarantee anyone their existing usernames.

Currently the feature set on the phpBB is not at full parity with this board. Some mods, such as the custom word filter, have NOT been ported over yet. My plan is to port it eventually because frankly it's damn useful, but it will not be available at start. Some other mods or IPB features may also be absent. Skins will probably have some issues for the first 1-2 weeks. There may be some other bugs introduced in the modding process (I can think of at least one that's unresolved right now).

There's no physical mechanism in place to protect names, so no. I'm sure you will not hesitate to inform us if there is a problem.

The main thing I dislike is the fact we have to reregister.

That means we lose all our badges and everyone joins in 09.

I worked hard for what little badges I have.

Kinda hard to believe after all of the people making jokes about MFGG 3.0 and what not since I've joined here.
