i would probably feel much less compelled to stay up all night in attempts to get a low member number if the member number wasn't shown beside each post a person makes

Actually I don't believe that the profile page has it either. Only way i've found is to order members by join date and count.

Deleting the table and recreating it should work. However, I don't think it is quite this important, you would still have numbers, anyways, and that is good enough!
