Why do people still think it means "Let's play for the 1st time"?

I'm currently watching a Zelda FSA LP (I had no Gamecube and I'm curious about the game) and the LPer is a moron. I mean, he has played a lot of Zelda games, including a very asshole rom hack of LTTP (Parallel Worlds, anyone?), and he still can't figure out the basics of playing a Zelda game:

1.- Talk to everyone.
2.- Backtrack everywhere, keep landmarks in mind.
3.- Dungeon gimmicks are to be used SEVERAL TIMES even in the same room.

Among other things... He basically wastes 4 or 5 minutes of video time per episode looking for something that was in plain sight the whole time. In plain sight for the viewers of the LP, even, meaning he just HAD to see it.

All of these could be easily avoided if the players did a previous playthrough of the game before LPing. I mean, if you're LPing a game, it means you like it so much you're willing to play it twice just to make a walkthrough available on the Internet.

But, as I said, people think Let's Plays are "Let's play for the 1st time". Or "Let's play this game again after not having played it for 6 years".

And I still don't know why people try to LP "I Wanna Be The Guy". Seriously, how can they think people'd like to see them dying over and over again on the same damn spot for 5 whole videos?

let's plays are mostly garbage anyway

search for a better LP?


sometimes it can be interesting to watch somebody LP a game for the first time; I mean as long as the guy isn't annoying as **** I can tolerate it

blind runs can be fun, if you're actually good at video games
otherwise just don't

Well, that's pretty much what I mean. He has played a lot of Zelda. He has LP'd A LOT OF ZELDA. Even a ROM hack in which you have to know and exploit every single hidden characteristic in the game (oh god bombing yourself to jump is painful to do... and to watch). And he still can't get it right? AND HE'S NOT BLIND RUNNING EITHER.

I saw that one. I lol'd hard.

But mostly the only good existing LPs are blind runs with decent hosts

Decent would be the keyword here.
