Non-Mario music in Mario fangames

I know games like that (namely, Hello's SMB: Shine Pursuit) have often been controversial, so I'm also considering using some good SMW remixes.

Well, off the top of my head I'd have to say FF music would be good. The series as a whole has a large variety of music to pull from.

really final fantasy is pretty unfitting for Mario (assuming) fangames. This also includes any vocal music really. Imo go for Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong Country; they had excellent music. The others too but they're too recognizable and get old quickly.

Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong country, depending on the game itself.

They're the only ones fitting to Mario.

whatever fits. I think it's ok to use ANY song.

Example: Jungle Land > DKC music
Cloud Land > Kirby Music
Mushroom Disco > Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At

Donkey Kong Country. The 2nd one had a very good soundtrack (it lacks the upbeat feeling of 1 and 3, dark).

Option 7: Original music that fits the level/scene.

Doesn't matter to me; just as long as the music chosen fits the current stage set/section in the stage.

That's how I approach my development.

Depends heavily on the tone of the level, but DK music is always amazing.

No real majority here. I'm sort of leaning towards FF just because it's something different and there's an enormous variety of music to use, even if some of it is unfitting. I've already used a lot of Zelda and DKC2 music in my earlier games, and Pokemon music doesn't usually fit.

There is no guarantee that VinnyVideo will ever begin this game.

Not everyone's a competent composer, nor has the tools to create something that sounds competent.

It is the best option though.
