Hey some of you may know of these specially modified 3rd party video drivers that give video cards extra performance, boost, etc. I want to delete my nvidia drivers and see how this would perform, but I am really weary of the risks of damaging my card/system especially since I just bought this card. What exactly are the risks for using the omega drivers?

it's pretty unlikely the drivers will damage your card, by themselves at least... screwing up the card is usually in the domain of flashing the firmware which could unlock "soft" locks such as extra pipelines and the like that may have been disabled at the factory... however i don't know if soft locks are even done anymore since it's probably easier to just laser-cut the wires during manufacturing and in that case you won't be unlocking anything! in some cases they're disabled for a good reason (parts of the gpu chip are defective), but sometimes you'll get lucky and have a perfectly good chip

but again, that was an option 5 or so years ago but probably not anymore

however you CAN damage your card through drivers if you start messing with the overclocking options and you don't know what you're doing, but since video cards generally run near their limits anyway (especially the ram) overclocking usually doesn't help at all

anyway i think all those drivers do is various automatic tweaks on a per-game basis and give you a few more options; **** you're probably going to have to spend a lot of time slaving over and probably not get a significant result. i used them once a while ago but i didn't really notice anything better

Its not a dreadful card, but I too am considering upgrading at some point soon (read DX11), as its a bit limiting.
