I've been thinking about it for a few days now, and while I DO like the idea of it being based on Namco's Ordyne and all, I fought with myself on how I'd do the boss battles/rival battles.

I kept trying to figure out the AI for the bosses, and I just got tired of figuring it out.

So INSTEAD, I thought I'd combine basic concept of Hyperion Skies with my racing game, RyuFox Kart Race (download the game at http://kitsunefox2001.digibase.ca/RFKR.zip).

If this idea flies, Hyperion Skies will keep all of its basic functions and features, but the things it will take from Kart Race include racing against others and the use of item boxes (party balls, as they contained items in Hyperion Skies).

Some things that it won't take away from Kart Race is the many, many, many special items you can get in the item boxes. The special items may be limited to things you can drop on the course, like oil spills (in this case, gas clouds or something) and fake party balls, speed ups, and scoring objects like coins, gems, invincibility, and free points (if you've played Kart Race, then you remember the +1 item).

On top of that, to keep the filesize low, you will only race against four other contestants rather than eight, as there has to be four entire sets of playable characters, monster partners, and character-related specials. Bullets won't be a problem, as it only requires me to mess with alterable values. Neither will the actual airplanes, because I can just make them four different active objects and put each new aircraft in a new user animation that will loop and not change throughout the level.

Additionally, instead of being able to customize the color of your aircraft (as it caused collision detection problems in the original), you get to select different aircraft to race in. Hyperion Skies' main focus will still be on customization, but now it'll be in a new genre altogether.

Think of Hyperion Skies as now being in the genre of Shooting/Racing.

What do you guys think? I'm seriously considering this. smile.gif

error 404.

You should have taken the parentheses out of the address.

Anyway, I fixed it now.
