There is an engine test for this awesome game called Sonic Forever. It's like Sonic Heroes with a team of 2 (you can choose any two characters out of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles), 2D platforming, and without annoying voice actors. The number of moves seems to be less though and the AI for your partner is nowhere near perfect. Use control to switch between your chosen characters as the lead character, by the way. The characters do have unique moves of their own but not many (Sonic can wall jump, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide).
