You better edit Mario so he runs.

And check TSR for MLSS-styled Bowser sprites to use.

SM64 2D... I'm not fond of people who just remake a game. I'd rather see originality.

Same here. Original games rock. Remakes end up being cancelled anyway.

I was gonna make a SM642D ages ago... When I was like 12. But that's because back then I wasn't creative. What NinDS said.

Besides, making a 3D game in 2D = not cool. Especially if it has such significance as Mario 64 does to the 3D world. That's like remaking The Matrix in black and white on an 8mm camera, lol.

There's a running anim when in a battle.

Heh, I'd like to see this. laugh3.gif

This reminded me somehow of a japanese short film of a tabletennis game where they imitated Matrix effects without actually using any special effects. And it worked! *sigh* I'd so like to see that one again...

Anyway, back on topic. Actually, a 2D SM64 doesn't sound like a bad idea, but you really should incorporate ideas of your own. Just don't make it a blatant rip-off. You can be original in a remake, too.

Remember Mario Alpha? That was the concept of Mario 64 from a 2D arcade viewpoint. Had the same 'letter from peach' opening, choosing game mode from inside the castle, and the levels were the same idea in the same order (i.e. grassy level with big bob-omb, stone level with thwomps, water level, snow level and so on) with the same music, but it was essentially a different game.

Maybe you should take a look at, say, Turok 2, Tomb Raider 2, or Rayman 3 handheld versions, or any of the GBA versions of the Spongebob games, since they're like 2D alter-ego's of 3D games, but they're pretty different.

2D remakes of 3D games just seem a generally silly idea and quite pointless too, unless you put some creativity into it. And whatever you do, don't call it "Super Mario 64 2D" lol especailly considering it's not 64 bit, not even on the 64 and adding "2D!" onto the title is almost like a reverse publicity point, lol, like saying "Super Mario 64: Shorter more childish edition!" or something, lol.

Is that it?...

Yeah, pretty much, although this one is just a small part of the whole thing. Thanks anyway, that brought back memories. biggrin.gif

Edit: Actually, that link was more helpful than I thought at first. Now that I know how that video is called, I was able to find the full version. Thank you! laugh.gif

Although it's terribly off topic, here is the link if you want to know what I am talking about)
