As of 4/22, the embed html tag has been disabled. You can replace "embed" with "bgsound" for sound files.

Q: How do I embed something on the message board?
A: <b> src="THE URL OF THE MUSIC OR SOUND FILE" autostart="*" hidden="*" loop="*">

At the beginning of the HTML, add a [dohtml] tag. At the end, put an ending tag for it the way you end every tag. In replace of the asterisks, if you want it to play automatically, be hidden, or loop, type in TRUE. If not, leave out these tags entirely.
WE PREFER YOU DO NOT MAKE THE EMBED HIDDEN OR AUTOSTART ON THIS BOARD SO PEOPLE CAN PROPERLY TURN IT OFF OR LEAVE IT OFF AS THEY WISH.
For .swf files, the format is different. Disregard all of the tags after the URL, but if you want to resize the .swf you may use width=" " and height=" " (add in numbers) but it is not necessary, and if you make it absolutely huge it will be removed or you may be warned. Remember to keep all of the quotation marks.

Q: Where can I embed a sound?
A: Only in the Pointless Post Palace please. The PPP is for spam and other nousences. If you embed anywhere else it will be removed and if you continue, you will be warned. Please give a warning in the title or subtitle of the topic that there is an embed. Failure to comply will either get the embed removed, or a warning will be added for you, but don't expect the admins and mods to keep adding warnings for you.

Q: Can I post more than one embed?
A: No. Do not post more than one embed, this will be on the grounds of HTML abuse. Do not post another embed if a different sound is already embedded, it will be removed if you do. Do not QUOTE an embed, that will embed another file.

Q: What types of files can I embed?
A: .wav, .mid and .mp3. It is preferred you do not post .swf files, unless you make a completely different topic. Do not hide it in a reply out of 20 in one page of a topic.

Remember: If the embed has anything that is considered against the rules (excessive swearing, swearing without any warning, messes up computers, makes popups, suggestive images) you will be held responsible and warned.

And PLEASE be considerate to those with slow connections. Embeds can be hell on a 56k modem.

Don't quote other peoples' embeds. It makes the page load even longer and that's hell on a 56k.

In addition to that, MIDI Files can be embeded too, as well as Vitalize (.ccn) files. But the Vitalize files should be used by people who don't have full versions of TGF, and should not be abused as well.

Another one of my ideas takes effect.

That's if it was a result of my suggestion, if not, never mind. But it's important to create an FAQ of questions that ARE frequently asked, so if you constantly see repeat questions in the help forum, PM an admin and see what they can do about it.

Also, it might be an idea to create temp-pages like they did for the PPP rules, that way you don't get loads of FAQ stickies cluttering up the top of the help forum. One sticky with links to all FAQ's written would be a better idea.

I've been thinking FAQs should be consolidated since we've got a lot of them stickied now.

FAQ Subforum.

That would defeat the purpose of these FAQ threads existing I think. If someone needs help, they're not going to go searching through a dedicated forum, single topic or help file. They're just going to make a topic about it. There were multiple topics on the first page of the help forum about embedding for crying out loud. XD At least it's not so easy to overlook the stickies up top.

That's what I think anyway.

the rainbowy text was added to bypass what is displayed.. (so the html tag wasent registered as a board tag)

You can also nest DoHTML tags so that they do not parse.

or use the code tag...
