Ok, a good lot of you saw my controller design for the revolution. Well, I like to draw rad looking computers, so I thought I'd draw what I thought the revolution should look like. Let's take a look back at nintendo's gaming machines. Think - NES. What shape was it? A box. The SNES? almost a box - angular in definition. The gameboy - a box. Angular. Machine-like. The N64? Rounded for sure, but still a rectangle - now with bumps. The Gamecube? I'll let you figure that one out. If Nintendo is really intending a revolution, they'd need to step away from sharp angles and boxy figures. Maybe... a sphere? I knew it would have to have a base, but that's not so weird - the PS2 did it. The base is basically an inverted hemisphere in which the touchlife can rotate freely, but it's not like it's greased and it's going to be spinning all over the place. So, why the weird, non-symmetrical shapes? The free-moving base? The weird colors? I have to say I got inspiration from the Ford Focus Ghia. this isn't the greatest picture, but basically the hood scoop, the headlights, the taillights - they're all bubbly, all biological shapes. I thought that the touchlife, by incorporating such biological concepts as the motion of a finger, of a stylus, not just a button command, but an actual curve made by a hand - I thought this was the right way to portray the image. The handle pops out with a button press. The controller ports are only differently sized on the outside - the acutal ports are all the same size. The CD tray is, well - not on top, or on the bottom or even the side - it's just sort of on there. Same with the base - all the decorative bar things are random lengths. And the buttons for power, eject etc are odd too, same as the controller not. Oh, and the control stick is a very simple touchscreen BTW. That thing on the top - it's a port for things like a gameboy player, or maybe even a N64 player, or who knows what. I think, also, if I were to delve deeper into this concept, I might add touch sensors all over the touchlife, so it might glow or make a noise wherever you touched it (glow is more likely - maybe it could be coated with that color changing liquid you see on those prank cards, like the ugly test and such?) And the words "power", "eject" and "Reset" would be replaced with "life", "death", and "rebirth" respectively (not sure about that rebirth one, might be a bit controversial ) Yeah... and about the colors. Tan is a very organic color, and light blue... is too I guess. Maybe it's just because I like the Ford GT40. Recolor it if you want to. OH YEAH! I almost forgot. A shape like this - they could have ones that looked like basketballs, kickballs, the earth, the sun - maybe you could even cut up your favorite ball and make a custom skin for it. Dr. Wario
