I've moved the guide to its own page. It now includes a detailed tutorial for setting up MySQL in addition to Apache 2 and PHP4.

I'll try it when I get home. You changed a few things since you tried to help me get it to work a while back, it seems.

The server was working fine, but when I restarted my computer, it stopped working. I'll be trying to figure it out until you point out where I screwed up.

YES I REMEMBERED TO RUN THE SERVER

what happened when you tried to start the server after rebooting?

Apparently, my IP changed and I got a "Page Cannot be Found" error. Or I just typed it wrong because I'm an idiot cool.gif

Excuse me while I repeatedly reboot my computer and check my IP(s).

If you don't want to keep track of your IP, use http://localhost instead. Made a note of it in the bottom of the guide.

Can't believe I never tried that.

Not to mention my IP didn't change anyway and that I probably just forgot to start Apache (though I'm quite careful to do so).

I've already got PHP working on my host.. but by no means on my own. =P
They set it up for you automatically.

I hope one day either I or someone else codes a program that makes this easier. It seems like it would only require editing, copying, etc. text files, which, theoretically, would be somewhat simple.

PHP roughly translates to "Powerful Hypertext Preprocessor" but last I checked only those last two words were in the full name =P

I would have mentioned that if I had felt like risking the response "No it didn't you stupidass, wherever did you get that idea?" or something similar =P

and you're close on the current definition, it's "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor"

Feels like a hack, doesn't it?

Some people say Preprocessor, but really, nobody cares. It kicks ass, and that's all that is needed.

I get a point.

Now then, excuse me while I attempt a few more times to configure Apache and PHP for functionality.

I'm very sorry to say that as long as this guide has been up, there's been an error in Step 4, Configuring PHP with Apache. This error, if uncorrected, WOULD prevent you from successfully running PHP under Apache. If you did have toruble, please go through the guide again, you should be more successfull.

Also, I made revisions to Section 1), 3) and 5). Please make changes accordingly.

It seems to ask if I want normal or custom install *after* specifying network name, admin email, etc.
