Arts Forum Rules, Read before posting your art

Admins feel free to edit this post and add their own rules onto this list:

-This is a forum for art, not spam, so stick figures, crappy drawings or anything else which doesn't fit will either be deleted or moved.

-Do not abuse the attachments. Don't start posting hundreds of pictures at high resolutions, etc etc. It's annoying and wastes space. Also, do not simply post crappy art for the sake of posting crappy art. That too is a waste of space.

-Do not use for hosting. It's happened before, and it could happen again. The art board isn't your personal hosting space. If you do use the forum for hosting, it will be replaced with a humorous but at the same time meaningful picture.

-Do NOT post Porn or Hentai, whether it's art or not is irellevent.

-Do not link to images from here, it is a waste of bandwidth.

-Do not use artwork or music from this forum without the creators permission. On a similar note, don't post artwork and music that isn't yours (unless you're going to discuss about said artist. It's preferred that you link to their gallery/website as opposed to just posting pictures alone).

-Do not direct link from your Deviant Art account. Many people have an account on DA, and MANY people hotlink from their gallery without being aware of DA's rather nasty policy. If they discover hotlinking, they'll delete every image in your gallery and ban the user.

By the same token, do NOT hotlink from someone else's DA gallery, as the DA admins could discover this, assume the owner of the gallery did the hotlinking, and wrongfully delete that person's gallery.

-Please do not spam, keep discussions intelligent and on topic. Also, do not post "bump" to get your art seen, try being a little more creative if you wish to bump your topic, or just don't do it at all. All spam posts will be deleted.

-Request/Draw Me topics do not belong in this section. . If you make a topic (or a "Draw Me!" topic) requesting to draw other board members in this, it will be moved to the appropriate forum. Repeated offenses of this will eventually lead to bannation. If the recently revived GF forum fails again, then request topics will be outright locked/deleted on sight from that point forward (you know, zero tolerance).

However, if you're making a topic for ideas of what to add to a picture, modifications, etc., they will be tolerated (that is of course no one tries to be sneaky and starts requesting, then it's time for a clean-up or movage)

-Try to avoid posting quickly done artwork in the main section, as people can be rather critical of those. There's a sketch topic stickied here, so it's best to post them there instead.

-All other rules on the forums apply here.

-Simple sprite recolors are not art. Do not post them here.

Dumb question but are detailed ASCII works acceptable even if they're just in text or an image?

Can you specify "crappy art" (just in case)?

What I consider to be crappy art (by no means assuming this is the view of any admin here, it's what I think personally ) is art that looks bad AND has little or no effort put into it, whether purposefully or just because the artist didn't try. If someone posted a picture that didn't look that great, but still had a lot of effort put into it, it wouldn't be "crappy" art.

You see this? Don't do this.



We can tell whether you actually attempted drawing a picture or if you just did something crappily in half a minute to be funny.

I'm starting to SUCK at drawing. I get sloppy, constantly throwing papers away...after one little screw up. But I'll post one as soon as I come up with a decent art.

Sounds like you can bump your topic in special situations, if you have got something important to say/show. It's probably just the mindless thousand-times-in-a-row-bumping-of-topics-that-nobody-cares-about that they want to get rid of.

I don't see why not, considering they don't take up any room or space. But we'll just let the admins deal with that.

I think the following rule should be added:
"If you can't accept constructive criticism in which the replier is telling you what is specifically wrong with the artwork (not bashing), then don't post here."

That's an Internet-universal rule right there.

Add this one:
Just because you recolored and made a GIF of something somebody else made does not make that art yours. Posting a recolored sprite is basically the same thing as claiming someone else's work to be your own. That is not good.
