i'm making a 3.5 of my style tuto soon
KOS style Tutorial V 3.0 : Karaters.People often say That KOS style looks like M&L but that’s wrong. A fact is that they look like mario party advance even if Dk never appeared in there but then again MPA look like M&L. MPA has 8 direction poses. One pose fits great in Kos style and that’s the diagonal one.

Let’s compare it to some other styles. SMB3, SMW , Yoshi’s island, Sonic Advance and M&L Battle styles are great referances. They have 1 thing in common. The Character isn’t on a 2D side pose or a front one but the character stands between the 45 °angle.

The Golden rules of KOS Style
- The sprite has to be between the 45° pose
- The size has to be respected.
- The lightsource has to be correctly shaded.
- The Outline,has differant colors.
- The Bright and nice KOS colors are special to this style.
- When a character touched the ground, his feets are flat and everything is alined.
- The Fixing, you shall try.
- The Comments, you shall listen.
How to Kreate a normal KOS sprite....Step 1 : Lineart:
Draw a lineart of The head of the Character you want to sprite first. Try to create a Basic lineart. If you need to fix it, you can still do this in follow steps.
I prefer starting with the head.
Step 2 : Searching Korrect Kolors
After I saw that custom colors not really fitted in the style, I think the game offers you many of his specific colors who makes it so bright and colorfull. You can use allmost every color of the game, You just have to search for a correct color pallete.
I used a sandy brown from the pyramide icon for the beak, a banana and Diddy’s Tshirt with stars on it for the eyes of Screech and Funky’s alternate pallete for his body. Search for Kos colors yourself !
Step 3 : Shading of Karater.
Shading is a special part of KOS style. It is similiar to the styles mentioned above.
The Lightsource (see pic) comes allways from the place above the character looks at.
If Dk looks right the lightsoruce will be in the righttop corner. If he looks left the lightsource will be on the left side. When a character get’s a front or a nearly front pose, the lightsource will be above him in the middle of the screen. Make sure you put the shadow at the right place. ALSO think about the fact, that the sun can reach arms and body parts who stick out. Diddy’s arm in kos for example hasn’t much dark shading becasue it’s exposed to the sun.
Ow, and NO PILLOW SHADING : it makes it pluffy and like a doll.
You should get this by now =
Step 4 : Kontinue with the Body.Repeat the previous steps with the same rules of KOS style
You are not forced to make everything custom. Screech’s legs and wings are edited from a Necky from the game.

You think you’re Finished ? HELL NO !
Step 5 : Kolorfull Outlineµ
Hey I rock at these Kremling titles ! Hahaha !
The following pic you allready show you how outlines in KOS style are

The ooutline isn’t just color and it can enter inside the sprite. It uses the darkest shade of the color inside (see Dixie) look at the nice colors you got now.
Step 6 : Korrection and Fixing.I still rock with K’s huh ? I own them XD lol.
In fact….ther eis no 6 unless you still do’nt like the finla rsult of your sprite and that you need to fix it thanks to comment other people give you !
