My pixeled works

Here some sprite art and a mock-up screenshot from a game project of mine. It's a run-and-gun game similar to the likes of Contra, Mega Man and maybe Metal Slug. Well it's not quite a game project as I haven't a clue as to how to make my own games, but I'm still making various sprites just in case I learn how =) . These are my first serious attempt at making pixel art so most of everything is still a work in progress. And yes, everything's done from scratch.

Ohbygod... there are some people, who when you see their work you can instantly see them getting lots and lots of money in the future.

You sir are one of those people.

Must be hella hard to animate them though.

BTW, how many variations of shade do you normally use for one color? Just curious.

I love those.

The lightest tone of black on that one plane I think should be a tad bit darker. Other than that, very good work.

Usually around three or four - including the outline. Sometimes more if the sprite is huge.

And yes I made the background too.

Those are REALLY good. I love that one on the lower right.

ANother wondering I was... how long does, say, something like the tan mech take you to make? And while I'm on the subject, I ask the same about the background.

I'm particularly impressed with the background. Outstanding attention to detail all around, admirable work.

Glad you liked them. It took a day to outline and color the mech. It was a few weeks for the background, only because I had to keep going back to it and redraw the bushes and trees (I suck at doing vegitation). I still have a few finishing touches to do on both, though.
