The Mfgg List Of Do's And Don'ts., Version 2

Welcome newcomer, to the forums! We're a friendly lot (usually a bit too friendly, make sure they don't get too close to your leg ) and we tend to be reasonable. However, there are a variety of things we encourage, and a variety of things we discourage. So you don't go in blind, I've composed this little list of things to do and not do.

DO:

• CONTRIBUTE! We're not too elitist here, and welcome opinions in every discussion. If we didn't, they'd be in a locked forum. :P Also, feel free to show off sprites, we'd love to see them.
• HELP other people! We're all here to scratch each other's backs if you think about it.
• TRY to be polite and respectful to others. Beating on somewhat for making a newbie mistake is a bit mean. (Thanks Fanguy)
• TRY to use proper spelling and punctuation. I don't expect you all to have perfect spelling etc. (Hell, I make a fair few typos myself), but AOL speak is literally painful to read through. If you really can't be bothered fixing your spelling, there's a few spellcheckers available for IE. Use them.
• RELAX! It's not the end of the world, it's a smallish forum in the corner of the internet. There's no real need for rushing around here.

DO NOT:

• ACTIVELY engage in flamewars and trolling. Stirring shiz up will only get you the admin's attention, and they have powers beyond those of normal users, like warning you, or banning you outright.
• BYPASS the word filter. This little device checks posts for certain words (Mostly swear words) and replaced them with asterisks. This is there for a reason! Most "light" swear words (Damn, ass, crap etc.) are unfiltered, use them, but don't overuse them. Again, do not bypass the swear filter. It is depressed and has a gun. A gun that attracts admins like hobos to whiskey. Yeah.
• BRING foreign grudges and flamewars to this board. Keep it to AIM. (Thanks Citrus)
• POST adult content. This consists of porn and other "yucky" stuff. Keep in mind that MFGG's users consist of a variety of ages, some of which view from school. If something's deemed a bit much, the admins will remove it.
• EMBED sounds!
• ASK to be a moderator. The answer is no. (Thanks Citrus)
• SUCK up to the admins. It will get you nowhere. (Thanks Napa)
• PLAY the pity card ("OMG sorry, I'm so stupid and no-one loves me, beat me with a stick" etc.), it won't work. (Thanks Yoshimaster)
• BANDODGE. Bandodging consists of registering a new name and account after you've been banned. If we ban you, it's a good sign that you're probably not liked or wanted here.
• MAKE multiple accounts. These are frowned upon, for obvious reasons. Besides, the admins know it's you. (Thanks Napa)
• ABUSE the uploading privellages. This consists of uploading random off-topic images, or hotlinking uploaded images to other sites. Abuse it and lose it.
• ASK about a "KPP". There never was a KPP, and there never will be. There was no such thing as a KPP. Nope, sorry folks, nothing to see here. Also, threads about this fictional creature will just annoy the higher ups. (Thanks SuperMetalMario)
• GIVE up! There's plenty of people here to help!

Yeah, this is a bit on the negative side, but if people can give suggestions on more things to do, I'll happily edit them in. I stress that this is not a hard community, we won't give you a hard time if you don't give us a hard time.

How about DO try to be polite and respectful to others, even newbies, and DON'T trash someone (if you'll pardon the expression Trasher =P) for making a newbie mistake or a topic that you think is dumb.

Let me add a major don't that I've been seeing lately:

If someone emails you or IMs you and you don't know who the person is, DON'T STATE THE PERSON'S USERNAME. It's bad enough that you rush to a message board about it (where all sorts of shady people can see it), but giving out their name? Might as well go for credit card number too. Besides that nobody gives a shiz except the aforementioned shady people. Just do the person, yourself and us a favor by blocking the person and not bringing it up.

You may use them, but you may not overuse them.

A useful one:

Also for newbies do not suck up to the admins so much, respect them but to a certain degree. If you kiss their ass you aren't gonna become an admin or something.

Don't touch Duckboy's liverwurst
