Sonic the hedgehog, a character who once had an attitude that his great speed matched, has changed over the years. But, partly, not for the better. He had his character flaws: ego, attitude, etc., he had his weaknesses... but no longer does that hedgehog exist.
Sonic's original brilliance was sparked from the all-new speedy game play and his cheeky expressions/attitude in Sonic 1 for SEGA Genesis. Ever since then, we see less and less attitude and more laziness (see Sonic X where we see Sonic often resting against things, also see Sonic Adventure where Sonic had returned from a vacation and in the Last Story he's planning on taking
another vacation.)
The cause of this problem: storyline. Ever since Sonic Team has been putting more focus on a story line, the old Sonic from the SEGA Genesis games has vanished due to them giving him way too much character. That's not Sonic.
This all leads up to an in-progress tribute to the old Sonic that has vanished... (you can see more of his muzzle than usual because his head is tilted slightly upward to show his attitude a bit better)
