QUOTE (FanGuy @ Mar 15 2004, 08:20 PM)
It has the "white mage" red marks on the sleeves, and white mages are usually considered to be female (sexists).

Anyway, here's the culprit, and I swear I created this guy before the character Marill had ever been announced.  It's not fair, I tell you.  I made a bunch of these little baby dragons, with different colors like orange, purple, green etc., but the blue (original) one always looked the best to me.

user posted image

And you think when they made Maryll it looked like that?

Maryll has a ball at the end of its tail, a tail itself, a much smaller tongue, different ears, etc. etc.

Yeah, I know that. But the general round shape, the blueness, the white belly... that all looks similar.

That eye isn't winking, it's always closed.

EDIT: Yes I know he usually wears an eyepatch

The point is, this specific picture gives a feminine aura.

No, he doesn't always wear an eyepatch. It's closed. All the time. Have you never played Donkey Kong Country 2?

He's got a black eye, somebody (probably DK) punched it.

No. And besides, that guy's eyelid is green. Klobber has like a black eye or something, so he looks like he has eye shadow, which I do not see guys wear.

His pose, thick eye outline and eye shadow add the feminine aura. That's how I see it, you aren't going to change that. If you don't like my opinion, then don't agree with it, but you don't need to try to change it.

This has nothing to do with opinion, i'm just saying that it's his eye, and it's not winking, it's always closed.

And it's because he has a black eye. Yep.

Draco... having a black eye doesn't make someone look feminine. O_o;

That's not the point, he meant that the entire drawing itself has a feminine look to it.

Since my browser is now about halfway through Page 2:

LOOK AT THE FACE, KAY?

The eye on our right has a thick outline, adding Feminine Crap #1.

The eye on the left is supposed to look like a black eye, but instead looks like a wink. Since you can't see the other eye's lid, the closed eye gives the appearance of eye shadow. Lots of characters wear that, usually females.

Although many male characters wear ear rings, (especially those god damned WW ReDeads) women wear large jewelry as well.

Women also tend to use the sprawled hem of the robe, while most males have either long-leg pants and a slit in the middle of the robe (making a sort of trenchcoat) or a neater hem like a form of women's dress.

Off topic, the extended pinky makes this creature look like a British stereotype or a gang member.

And that eye, is always closed.

What's that? I've said that already? Oh...well that's probably because it was the only thing I was talking about, and nothing else means anything to me, typically because I don't really care.

That dark shadow around the eyes is usually used to make someone look evil.

That seems to work best when the rest of the character is drawn dark too, which it isn't in this case.

@Kritter: Well then I won't read your posts if you don't care tongue.gif

Actually, I think Draco's right. It might've worked to make him look evil if it was a dark shade of green rather than just black. The problem is that it doesn't blend in well with the skin.

It's rare for someone to actually agree with me.

Now, Klobber, make your shades darker and stick... it... in a mushroom forest with a Malboro* in the background and you got yourself an image.

*I know this creature best by the name Mad Oscar because it reminds me of Oscar the Grouch

Actually, I rather like it the way it is.

Also, it makes it a bit creepier if you can't tell whether it's male or female, I think.

Looks male to me, I always do the eye purpleish, especially with prisma markers since I don't have any shades of gray.

I don't think it looks female, I just think it looks stylish.
